What your comprehensive exam includes
- A full series of x-rays, taken by our dental assistant
- A conversation about your dental and overall health since your last exam
- A review of your x-rays for decay, cracks and chips
- An evaluation of your bite and jaw, including a TMJ exam
- An exam and charting of any existing fillings, crowns or other restorations
- Screening for gum (periodontal) disease
- Oral cancer screening
- A chance to talk through any cosmetic concerns

Oral cancer screening
Oral cancer is especially dangerous because it often goes unnoticed until its later stages, which is one more reason regular exams matter. Caught and treated early, it has far better outcomes. Oral cancer can affect the lips, cheek lining, gums, tongue, and the floor and roof of the mouth, and can extend toward the throat. Let us know if you notice any of these possible signs:

- New or lasting numbness, pain or tenderness
