Common questions
Straight answers to what patients ask us most.
Don't see yours? Ask us directly
Do you take my insurance?
We accept most PPO dental plans, depending on the policy. We don't accept HMO plans or Medicaid/CHIP. Call us with your insurance information and we'll let you know whether your plan is accepted.
How much is a consultation if I don't have dental insurance?
If it's your first visit, we offer a $99 new-patient consultation, which covers a comprehensive exam and x-rays (cleanings are separate). For ongoing care without insurance, our membership plan starts at $399 a year for adults and $299 for children, and covers two exams, two cleanings, an emergency exam, unlimited x-rays and 20% off treatment.
What can be done about tooth pain?
Tooth pain can have several causes — most often a large cavity, a cracked tooth, or an infection.
- A large cavity can sometimes be filled. A bigger one may need a crown, and sometimes a root canal as well.
- A cracked tooth can sometimes be saved with a crown; other times it needs to be extracted.
- An infected tooth can sometimes be saved with a root canal and crown; other times it needs to be extracted.
If you're in pain, call us — we make room for emergency appointments.
Can I get a second opinion on fillings?
Yes — we're happy to take a look. We take a conservative approach and only recommend fillings where there's clear decay.
Do I need to have my wisdom teeth removed?
Not always. Removal is recommended for most people, but if there's enough room for your wisdom teeth and you're able to brush and floss them properly, there's no problem keeping them.
Does tooth sensitivity mean I have a cavity?
Not necessarily. Sensitivity is often caused by gum recession rather than decay, and we have treatments and recommendations to help reduce it.
My crown fell off. What can be done?
If the tooth itself isn't broken, there's no decay, and the crown still fits properly, we can often re-cement it for a small fee — saving you the cost of a new crown. Otherwise, a new crown may need to be made, or in some cases the tooth may not be savable.
